At a SLA hearing last Wednesday, a husband and wife who each have a store
and were caught moving goods between there stores went before the full
Board. Their attorney offered the Authority $5,000 each store as a fine but
some of the members wanted to cancel BOTH licenses, claiming swapping
goods was a one of the worst offenses in our industry. One of the members
argued since it was there first offense to stick to a monetary penalty. The board
came back with $20,000 each store with the understanding that if it happens
again both licenses will be cancelled. The fine totaled $40,000.
