"Tuthilltown Spirits attracts tourists from all over the state. This bustling distillery has become an economic engine in our area, creating jobs and bringing in tax revenue,” said Assemblymember Cahill. "Showing a commitment to this industry is an investment in New York’s future, which is why I have been working with craft beverage producers to develop sound policies that will elevate the status of New York wines, spirits and craft brews and enhance brand recognition.”

In 2012, a bill authored by Assemblymember Cahill was signed into law, allowing farm distillers to offer samples and to sell their products at county and state fairs and farmers markets, giving beverage producers direct access to consumers. Cahill is also the author of legislation to establish the New York Craft and Beverage Council (A.7544), which would be tasked with branding and promoting craft beer, wine and spirits produced in the state to increase sales and recognition of these fine products.
